What is a pre-authorisation?
A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold of a specific amount of the available balance on a credit or debit card that is provided upon booking. The pre-authorisation is not a charge and no funds will be debited from your account. If not cashed it at check-out, this said hold will expire within 21 days and the amount will fully return to your credit card.
What is the amount of a pre-authorisation?
The temporary hold generally corresponds to the amount of the first night.
What happens at the check-out?
The guest can decide to let expire the pre-authorisation and pay the whole amount through the method of payment he desires. Otherwise, he can cash in the pre-authorisation and pay the remaining amount through whatever method of payment.
How long does it take for the temporary hold to be available again?
Generally, the pre-authorisation lasts for 21 days.
The staff’s advice
Our staff suggests you get the pre-authorisation debited at the moment of payment. The temporary hold will, therefore, be transformed into debt and subsequent misunderstandings will be avoided.
